Idea

The purpose of this project is to create an interactive cultural television program which will give information about events and cultural tours around the city. The program will provide interactive options to directly participation of the viewers. The aim of this project is to interact with viewers giving to them the power of decide what they want to watch during the programming. All forms of cultural expression may be part of the program contents, such as music, dance, arts, literature, touristic places and cultural events. The program format will be as a cultural agenda and offered three main options for reports. Inside each report there are other options for continuation that will be chosen by viewers. Initially, this program is thought to be a program aired on television, but due to new technologies and digital convergence there is the possibility that it be implemented in different Digital Media devices through the Internet, such as computers, mobile phones and iPad.

Motivation

The Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) service has just been implanted in Ireland. This new transmission system enables users have quality and digital services as good as cable TV service. The DTT allows more channels to be created and the use of some features, such as interactivity, to be possible. Ireland television channels have to be interested in developing new programs using digital features to interact with the audience. One of the motivations is to allow users try the experience of interactivity on DTT system. The choice of the theme culture as the main content of the program arose due to a shortage of entertainment programs about culture, such as a cultural agenda in which viewers can learn more about the events happening in the city and to program what to do for weekend.

Development

Basically, to develop this project will require the use of some digital media skills, such as Video Production, Visual Communication, Interactive Design, Research Methods, 3D Modeling and Animation. First, the development of the program will be required to follow all the stages of pre-production, production and post production. After that, it will be necessary to adapt and implement the program for interactive functions
